Make and Play: Christmas & Make and Play: Nativity by Joey Chou from Nosy Crow Publishing [Review & Giveaway USA/CANADA]

ISBN: 9780763696160 - Hardcover $11.99

Make and Play: Christmas

My thoughts: This book focuses on the secular aspects of the Christmas holiday with trees, ornaments, Santa, songs, and activities of a secular nature. The press out pieces can be made into ornaments for decoration or can be played with by children.

The "book" portion includes the words to songs "Jingle Bells," "Deck the Halls," and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." Recipes include Snowball Truffles and Gingerbread Cookies.

About the book/activity: This innovative new activity book includes ten press-out pieces to play and decorate with. The simple die-cut shapes, including Santa, a reindeer, and an angel, are easy to press out and slot together. The book also includes lots of activities, songs, and recipes to help celebrate Christmas!

Make and Play: Nativity

My thoughts: This is definitely my favorite of the two books! I love that little ones can "make" their own nativity scene with the easy to press out pieces and then play with it to their hearts content. Engage the whole family as they "act out the story" with the various pieces.

And then in the "book" portion it begins with "Read the Nativity Story" told in brevity. However, I would suggest parents also open their Bibles to Luke 2 and read it regularly to their little ones during this special time.

Words to carols "Away in a Manger," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," "We Three Kings," and "Silent Night" are included. Be sure you sing with your little ones. Memories like this last a lifetime.

About the book/activity: With twenty easy-to-assemble press-out pieces as well as the narrative, this book includes everything you need to bring the Christmas story to life. A perfect gift for the holiday season!
4 Winners chosen: Each will receive 1 book based on the order in which they are chosen via the Random Selection process. 1st 2 winners chosen will receive the Nativity book, next 2 winners (winners 3 and 4) will receive the Christmas book.

  2. How do you tamp down the excitement during the holidays so your child is less stressed? There is no stress... we continually celebrate.
If you don't have a child, how were you helped as a child to be less stressed and excited during the holidays? We just make it about giving and the birth of Christ. It is all good.
