Animals with super sensory powers & sassy math poem books for ages 8-12 [Sporlight & giveaway USA/CANADA]

Detector Dogs, Dynamite Dolphins and More Animals with Super Sensory Powers by Christina Couch and Cara Giaimo | Ages 9-12

ISBN: 9781536219128
Ages 9-12
MIT Kids Press $24.99

My thoughts:
In this MIT Kids Press (an imprint of Candlewick Press) book the authors provide a terrific science book that will engage students minds at length. Presented in a manner that is both educational and entertaining with indexing, bibliography, references for further exploration all of which make this a classroom and library significant book. It will be invaluable in learning to research and document information.

The articles describing the talents and powers of these various animals will enthrall the student and give a better appreciation for these creatures and their usefulness to mankind.

I highly recommend.

My First Pop-Up Endangered Animals - Celebrating "Earth Day" [Review & Giveaway USA/CANADA]

ISBN: 978153622844
$18.99 US ~ Ages 3-7

My thoughts:
Kids love pop-up books and they engender a need to "care for the book" since the pop-ups are fragile. In this sturdy board book, the endangered animals are sparingly illustrated in soft-yet-bold coloration. Young readers will love the element of pop-up illustrations as they give a more thorough sense of the creatures presence. Subtle, but real.

The Jesus Revolution (movie) now available on BLUERAY-DVD & streaming [Review & Giveaway]

My thoughts:

Having been a young woman raising my family during the 1970s and a faithful church-going person, I recall the explosive 1970s with the rebellious hippy movement, anti-establishment, anti-war (Vietnam), make-love-not-war, loud, protesting, drug-induced-stupor that exploded around us. Compound this by living in a small town whose main function was the support of a large state-owned university, it was very much in-your-face around us.

I remember, too, that a new "form" of worship and singing (not traditional hymnology) began to emerge that rattled traditional worshipers sensibilities.

NIrV, The Illustrated Holy Bible for Kids from Zondervan (New International Readers' Version - NIrV)

NOTE: This is a full-text Bible, NOT a Bible storybook.

NIrV, The Illustrated Holy Bible for Kids is a brand-new kind of Bible that allows kids ages 4–8 to read the full Bible without chapter and verse numbers and footnotes—study aids that are helpful for adults but can be very distracting for kids. This Bible presents the story of God’s people in a single column format with an extremely readable font.

With nearly every turn of the page, children will encounter full-color illustrations and kid-friendly maps that illuminate the Bible story. For children who want to read on their own

I Dare! I Can! I Will!: The Day the Icelandic Women Walked Out and Inspired the World by Author & Illustrator Linda Olafsdottir [Review & Giveaway]

A picture book inspired by the Long Friday—a real event in Iceland that inspired women around the world to stand up, walk out, and march together for women’s rights. I DARE! I CAN! I WILL!, a story that inspires children to believe in their dreams, advocate for themselves, and pursue their passions.

MY THOUGHTS:
Firstly, I am not a proponent of mass protests and especially when they have children in attendance at the protests. I do not think it wise or safe to involve children in these events.
