Cyrrus Sports Stainless 25 Oz. Bottle with Straw Attached & Double Wall Insulated

When I finally decided to begin an exercise program, my kids all insisted that I be sure to "hydrate, hydrate, hydrate." So I used a plastic double wall water bottle and found that YES, I DID NEED TO HYDRATE!

But alas, I dropped it a couple of times and the inner and outer walls cracked, broke, and traveled to the trashcan. Well, I went awhile without one. And decided that I NEEDED one of those things. So I bought another - but not a high priced one. It hasn't broken since I haven't dropped it. But I am a bit dubious about what it is made out of.

Along came the Cyrrus Sports Stainless bottle. I saw it and felt that this was the one for me. So here we have it and it is amazingly well made. The attached straw is positively fabulous. The outer part flips up and down for ease of drinking or closing it. Inside the bottle, the "straw" detaches for easy cleaning. Fabulous! It is so sturdy and well made.

I look forward to carrying this full of chilled water to my trice-weekly visits to gym.

The Plans I Have For You Devotional & Journal [Review & Giveaway USA & CANADA]

It is so very important that families have group devotions with parents and children present. This instills in them a lifetime habit of Bible study and prayer time. When my children were growing up, my husband and and I had regular Bible reading and prayer with our children. I also had special times when I focused on Bible stories with them. But there were not any helps for parents or children back in those days (I'm ancient, aren't I??) that could make this time more appealing to the children.

Hardcover 160 pages
Age range: 8-12 years

About The Plans I Have For You Devotional:

The devotional is an illustrated 90-day devotional written by bestselling children's book author Amy Parker and illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton, teaching and inspiring kids to dream about their future, to focus on faith, love, and joy, and recognize that God has a plan and purpose for each and every one of us.

With today's plethora of Bible helps designed for children parents may have more success in maintaining the children's interest. Certainly with the printing of The Plans I Have For You Devotional and the accompanying The Plans I Have For You Journal those wonderful "teachable moments" will multiply.

These are colorful and very attractive books that will capture the children's interest. The focus of to bring an understanding to the child that God has specific plans for him or her. Set forth in easy to read language and variable text fonts and text size, the book is adorable. Written with rhyme and a bit of rhythm the 90-day devotionals will seat themselves in the heart and mind of the reader.

As the devotionals are read the child has the opportunity to react to his heart's and mind's feelings about God's plans for their life and record in the journal just how he is thinking and feeling.

About The Plans I Have For You Journal:

The journal prompts creative thinking and exploration of the talents and personalities that make us special, and then helps explore how God may use our unique traits to spread love and joy and make the world a better place.

About author: Amy Parker has sold more than thirty books for children, teens, and adults.  She has also collaborated with authors ranging from New York Times bestsellers to her very own son.  Two of these collaborations are recipients of Christian retailing's Best Awards, and she has also won three Mom's Choice Awards.  But Amy's greatest reward is being a wife to Daniel and a mom to their amazing sons, Michael and Ethan.

About illustrator: Vanessa Brantley-Newton is a self-taught illustrator, doll maker, and crafter.  Her passion for children's books began when she came across The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats as a child in the 1960s.  Growing up in a musical family who love to sing, Vanessa's illustrations are as fun and whimsical as a beautiful melody.  Vanessa currently makes her nest in Charlotte, NC with her husband of 20 years, their daughter, and a very rambunctious cat named Stripes.

Willie Is A Little Boy is a sweet poem to share

I was blog-surfing and discovered this blogger's father's poem and absolutely loved it. Here is the poem and a direct link to the site. I know my readers will love it, too.

Willie Is A Little Boy

Just won’t you look at Willie
when the sun shines on his hair
it looks almost like goldenrod’s
a leaning here and there

His mind’s of shapes and sizes
much like a tinker toy
but his face has no disguises
Willie is a little boy

He’s a sweet thing, he’s a plaything
as mischievous as can be
who asks lots and lots of questions
that he shouldn’t ask, you see

He’s a hundred thousand tear drops
he’s a little box of joy
he’s a treasure straight from heaven
Willie is a little boy

The Beginner's Bible Sticker & Activity Book "A Christmas Celebration"

Supplies ran short and I didn't receive my copy before Christmas, but late is better than never. It is always fun for the kiddies to interactive with their stories and what better story than the birth of Christ - the Christmas story. The Beginner's Bible "A Christmas Celebration Sticker and Activity Book" is a super way to have those preschoolers interact with the story by reading the story to them and then they find the stickers that correspond with that part of the story and place it.

There are activities including coloring, word search puzzles, mazes, shape identification, etc. This is a super little gift and very low priced - $3.99.

Think ahead to next year and (if you can find it in stores or online) get a copy for that youngster.

DISCLOSURE: I was provided a complimentary copy by Zonderkidz through the BookLook Blogger review program. Opinions are my own and I was not compensated.

Tell Me Why? (Tell Me Books) by Isabelle Fougere, Barron's Educational [Review & Giveaway]

ISBN-13: 978-0764167942
Ages 7-12
Barron's Educational
About the book: This fun-filled Q&A book is packed with answers to questions that curious children want to know--and parents are only too happy to give them the means to discover on their own. It contains more than 180 answers to questions about history, nature, the human body, animals, plants, the Earth, and more. In Tell Me Why?, kids can find the answers to questions such as: "Why were some pirates abandoned on a desert island?", "Why are there mummies?", and "Why do we go to school?" Organized according to different topics and tabbed for easy reference, this book also features a hidden spiral binding that makes it easy to flip back and forth. Entertaining illustrations, cool stickers, and activity sections make learning more fun than ever.

My thoughts: Children have inquisitive minds and often want to know those little tidbits of information such as "Why does it rain?", "Why is the grass green?", "Why don't chickens fly, even though they have wings?". And while many of their questions can be accurately answered by a "grown up," children enjoy and need a way they can discover answers for themselves. The very act of discovery is an important part of the learning process.

Barron's Educational has published two books in the "Tell Me" series that are treasures and packed with a plethora of information and engaging illustrations that will capture the age 7-12 year old child on their own quest for discovery.

I absolutely love these books. They are spiral bound, yet the spiral is encased. Each question and answer has its own illustration that will capture the attention of the child. Tell Me Why? is simply packed with information that children (and parents) will find intriguing and informative. There are two questions and answers on each page. Short. Simple. Informative. The Tell Me Why? book encompasses six subject areas: history, nature, the human body, animals, daily life, and the Universe. There are stickers included providing an activity to further engage the child.

I heartily recommend these books for the home or classroom library. They are sure to be well used as children grown and discover this wonderful world and life around them.

Tell Me What Is That? (Tell Me Books) by Elisabeth Marrou [Review & Giveaway]

Barron's Educational Series
ISBN-13: 978-0764167959
Ages 7-12
About the book: This fun-filled Q&A book is packed with answers to questions that curious children want to know--and parents are only too happy to give them the means to discover on their own. It contains more than 180 answers to questions about history, nature, the human body, animals, plants, the Earth, and more. Organized according to different topics and tabbed for easy reference, this book also features a hidden spiral binding that makes it easy to flip back and forth. Entertaining illustrations, cool stickers, and activity sections make learning more fun than ever.

My thoughts: Children have inquisitive minds and often ask so many questions that adults get a bit peeved, but children's minds are simply discovering and inquiring as they learn all about the world around them. So when they ask, "What is that?" we should always endeavor to answer the question because this questioning is part of the very act of discovery and is an important part of the learning process.
