My thoughts:
This is an amazing book and I totally enjoyed reading it. Often novels in this time period are stilted and don't bode well for reading. The author has done a terrific job of bringing characters from England in 1820 to life and who live within the mores and traditions of the period without the denseness and stilted awkwardness that so often is the case. The story flows. The characters are a joy to "know" as we read through the day to day adventure that this story brings to life.

The story is a faith based story and strongly presents belief in God as foundational in one's life. It is not, however, preachy.

Village life amongst the well-to-do and the poor is well contrasted. The author weaves interaction between them smoothly and has them engage in believable acts of living life. The storyline has mischievous and mean deeds being perpetrated and the characters try to root out the source of these deeds. The story moves nicely without feeling rushed utilizing twists and turns and comes to an exciting conclusion.

I highly recommend.
