My thoughts: Hospitality is tricky business. Often the heart is willing but the pride says, "I don't have an adequate home" or "I don't know how to entertain guests" or "I am afraid I won't measure up to what others are doing." Our inadequacies are sometimes in our mind, but we are still vulnerable.
This lovely little book establishes the key to entertaining which is to open the door of your heart and welcome your guests. And the true key is not to feel like you are an "entertainer" but that you are giving of your personal "gift of hospitality." You take what you have and share it with love - a love that is Christ given.
There are tips for your table and your decorations. Even the use of a simple chalk board to write a welcome message. There are a few recipes for you to try and then incorporate into a menu for your guests.
To whom will you open your door? Sometimes we are even hesitant to open it to family. But an open door gives opportunities to grow personally, share our faith, and be a blessing in someone's life.
I like this little book and I think it provides just enough information and guidance to aid in your journey to have an open door and be hospitable to your neighbors, your family, your church acquaintances. Remember, the stranger, too, needs your gift shared.
