My thoughts: Hana Ylang Ylang Essential Oil - 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade for Aromatherapy Diffuser works nicely in my diffuser. The first use, I put about four drops into the diffuser. Nice, but a mite strong.

Next time, I used about three drops and a couple of sweetorange. Better. I enjoyed it.

Ginger Essential Oil from Gya Labs #sponsored #review

I recently became quite interested in using essential oils in a diffuser therapeutically for me and my husband. I initially acquired a set of 6 oils and have been experimenting using them singularly or in combination in my diffuser. What a pleasant sense these impart in our home, and I am in high hopes that they will bring a variety of helps to us therapeutically not only emotionally or to our psychic but physically to our respiratory system, etc. Time will tell.

I think I might try the Gya Rose Geranium and Ginger together - both are from Gya Labs.

I don't plan to use essential oils directly on my skin or experiment with lotions, creams, and other household uses. For now just in the diffuser. I am really enjoying my venture into the world of therapeutic essential oils.

So I began with a combination of two new-to-me oils - cinnamon and cedar and found it quite pleasant but I had a bit much of the cedar as it overpower the Cinnamon. Learn by doing. My thoughts: This diffuser is my first foray into the world of essential oil diffusing aromatherapy. I've been around homes and offices that have diffusers expelling the mildly fragrant aroma and totally enjoyed them. I just simply had not followed through and acquired one of my own and the oils needed to bring this experience into my own home.

Plus the fact that I realized that essential oils could be helpful and they could also (though they are a "natural" product) be harmful. And we don't need "harmful" in our lives.

The Natrogix Totem Diffuser (found on Amazon - click here) is simple in materials [PP, i.e. polymer polypropylene] and construction. There are easy to follow instructions for correct and safe use of the diffuser. There are two switches (buttons) at the base for control of the unit. One controls the light and colors and the other controls the misting for either continuous, intermittent, or off. The unit shuts "off" the misting when the unit is out of water. The light continues on or to cycle through the colors.

Perhaps some would think this of no value, but I found that the design of the electrical outlet plug to be especially nice. It has a wave, or curve design that allows for positioning of the thumb and finger to easily grasp the plug for insertion and removal from the outlet. I've never seen this design before and I think it is definitely a winner.

The lamp works beautifully (looks lovely tucked away in the corner). I really like it and am in the process of learning about how to correctly use essential oils here in my home. As a "lady of a certain age," I need all the help I can get for calming, relaxing, healthy living. I look forward to many days, weeks, and months of using this lovely diffuser.

NOTE: Some folks think of a diffuser as a humidifier and to some degree they are. Having used humidifiers (both cool mist and warm steam) for many years, a small diffuser does not emit the quantity of moisture that might  be required by some. It does, however, emit a lovely cool mist that when using essential oils provides a lovely aroma and other therapeutic benefits.

My thoughts: This is my first excursion into the fascinating world of essential oils. I have used a variety of cosmetic and bath products sold by small companies where the products are hand made in small batches and utilizing essential oils. Loved them!  However, I simply don't care to get into the mind boggling world of using these oils correctly and safely. But I am quite interested in using them therapeutically for me and my husband.

So my first real trial of essential oils is with the lovely diffuser (see above) and this set of Mooka Essential Oils. I've tried a few drops in the diffuser - lavender by itself, lavender and lemongrass, and sometimes I got the mix a bit strong for my senses. I am learning.

I'm not using these directly on my skin and for now just in the diffuser. That's a good start. I don't know the difference in grades of oils but these are called 100% pure therapeutic grade. My intention is to discover the blend of oils for the diffuser that seems most beneficial to us.

Then I may venture forth to a drop on the pillow case at night, etc.

My thoughts:  Having recently begun using products such as soap, shampoo, and skin creams that are all natural and made with various essential oils and being quite happy with them, I thought perhaps this book, The Healing Power of Essential Oils, might be a good introduction to benefits of utilizing essential oils in various ways in my daily life.

I realize that essential oils are good but they can also be toxic or harmful on different levels when wrongly used. So one shouldn't indiscriminately purchase the oils and start mixing, rubbing, and ingesting them. One should definitely find out just how, when, what quantity, what quality, and which oils to use. This information must come from a dependable source.

This book by Eric Zielinski, D.C. was offered for review through a blogging program and I thought it would be interesting and perhaps helpful to me and my family. I am definitely lacking in knowledge of how to use essential oils and which oils serve which purpose. I do enjoy walking into a room that has a diffuser distributing mist allowing me to enjoy the aromatics and goodness of various oils. Again, education and knowledge in use of or being guided by an expert clinician would be helpful.

The book:  The cover is lovely and definitely appealing and the book lengthy enough but not overpowering to the newcomer or novice. I was disappointed in the quality of the paper. It appears thin and of a recycled type used in pulp-novels. I would expect a bit nicer paper from this publisher.

The information: I can not evaluate the veracity of content since I am lacking in personal knowledge of essential oils and am a seeker of information. The book is written from a Christian (or Biblical) perspective and Dr. Zielinski is a "Biblical Health Educator." This appeals to me, but I am always a cautious reader when an author makes claims and I seek further  confirmation rather than to simply accept the author's statement.

The author states in his introduction that the "therapeutic use of essential oils doesn't have to be complicated...." and that he has "painstakingly taken out all of the guesswork... to distill everything down to manageable bite-sized pieces."

Dr. Z. includes some do-it-yourself recipes that can help you get started replacing commercial products with those you make yourself with essential oils. Or you can understand the process from this information and seek out products made by others and in small batches from the same ingredients and sold in "natural" product shops.  I like that the author writes with a light touch and sense of humor.
