My thoughts:  Growing up, it was a regular part of Sunday worship to sing "The Doxology." That instilled a reverence in my heart and a desire to worship God in His full Triune Being and to stand in awe of His Holiness. Today's children should also have the privilege of learning to praise God from the depth of their being. Praise God, All Creatures: A Doxology for Children is a good start for children.

Delightful illustrations aid the child in recognizing the beauty of God's creation, and how he should praise God as one of God's creations for the beautiful world in which he lives. As the book opens we read "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!" --Psalm 150:6.

My thoughts:  Originally published several years ago, this Bible storybook has proven to be at the top of the list of dependable, Biblically sound, attractive books that children, parents, as well as Bible authorities have selected for their families or to gift to children they care about.

Finding the theme of Christ the Redeemer throughout the Bible from The Creation to the Resurrection can be brought to light for young children as they learn these familiar retellings of events and people in the Scriptures.

Divided into stories and the reading of which takes only about 5 minutes, the truth of Scripture is clearly stated and is backed with attractive, eye catching illustrations that children will love. I found the clearly stated, true to Scripture text well written and easy to understand. There is just enough text on each page to capture interest without losing the child's mental attention and engagement. The illustrations on each page fit well with the text and are such that children will be drawn to. 

I highly recommend.

My thoughts: Not being a Biblical scholar, I will simply address the physical attributes of this beautifully presented copy of the Word of God. The binding is sturdy with flexibility that affords ease of use by nicely laying flat on desk or tabletop. Paper is adequate to prevent much visual bleed through of text from reverse side. Type font is easy-to-read for most readers. Visually impaired who need really large print will still struggle to read it, though. As a senior-adult, I find it quite adequate. 

The single column style seems to accommodate the marginal illustrator and notetaker space. Some publications overly long column lines can prove difficult to follow, but this CSB Illustrator's Notetaker Bible hits a good median between two-column width and an overly-wide single column.

The concordance in the back is adequate and easy to use. Providing a simple reference and research tool for Bible study. I always love looking at maps in the Bible to find where the events actually took place. Perhaps this goes back to my childhood days and love of geography class. The one-year-reading plan affords guidance for those who like to stick with directed reading.

The look and feel of this Bible is top grade and would be a treasure to gift someone or to obtain for your own personal use. It is perfect for those who want to put a few of their own notes alongside the text so they can treasure moments of personal revelation they experience in their reading of God's Word.

The CSB is a widely used and respected version of the Bible. My preferred version is the old King James Version, but I am always happy to encourage the reading of God's Word in versions that present Him in Truth.

THE QUIET/CRAZY EASTER DAY by Jill Roman Lord

My thoughts:  This is a board book with padded cover, lively illustrations, rhyming text. It is all about praise to God. Scripture tells us in Luke 19:40 when Jesus was being praised the pharisees wanted Jesus to hush them. Our Lord said.... "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

The author of this young children's board book is giving an "I imagine" take on what might have happened on the morning of our Lord's resurrection. Suppose everything rejoiced - animals, fish, people, at this joyful occasion. Surely in creation's own individual ways, they praised God their creator. So this is supposition, but it takes the reader to a place where realization that all of creation rejoices.

My thoughts on this edition (click here to find it): I have a copy of the Evergreen Cloth Over Board edition, ISBN: 9781535935036, which has a strong binding that facilitates the flat layout of the book in one's hands or desktop. This is a hefty, quite heavy, Bible that makes it more effective to use at a desk than a "take to church" Bible. The pages have very wide margins that facilitate personal notations.

The paper is quite thin as is the case in many Bibles. This paper is such that the type or imagery on one side bleeds through to the other side. This is annoying and troublesome when reading. The type face is quite small, too, which for many would create difficulty in reading for any length of time.

As can be seen from the two images below, the study aids "The Book of Nehemiah and the Life of Jesus" and "Read and Study John" provide gems of information to aid in one's study of Scripture. This is typical of the types of aids one can find in the CSB He Reads Truth Men's Bible.

But then you can also see the extent of bleed through or shadowing from reverse pages and the difficulty they might pose.

God's Word is always a 5-Star product and even with some points not being to my personal liking this copy is His Word and will provide guidance, comfort, leading for a man who chooses to read truth as presented in God's Word.
