Bridge of Gold (Doors to the Past #3) by Kimberley Woodhouse (from Barbour Publishing)

My thoughts:
Set in the present day, the story involves a crew of underwater divers who are assigned the task of repairing the Gold Gate Bridge and an archeologist who is assigned the responsibility of retrieval of a sunken ship's treasures and archeological items.

As the divers work together in the turbulent waters of the California bay emptying into the Pacific Ocean, their safety concerns as undersea divers becomes more treacherous as a dual mystery unfolds regarding their findings on the sunken ship.

As the author Kimberley Woodhouse, unravels the tri-level timespan story, her writing skill becomes evident as the culprits remain hidden from the reader, the characters develop, and a sweet romance brews.

I have personally visited the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge and it is truly beautiful. I am certain that in today's world there are many other impressive engineering feats in bridge construction. However, the Golden Gate Bridge was at one time the longest suspension bridge built and truly a marvel. The feat of its construction is of fascinating historical achievement of man. As one reads Bridge of Gold the risks involved in construction become evident.

An enjoyable, and informative, read.

About the Book: Repairs on the Golden Gate Bridge Uncover a Century-Old Murder. Walk through Doors to the Past via a new series of historical stories of romance and adventure.

Underwater archaeologist Kayla Richardson is called to the Golden Gate Bridge where repairs to one of the towers uncovers two human remains from the late 1800s and the 1930s. The head of the bridge restoration is Steven Michaels, who dives with Kayla, and a friendship develops between them. But as the investigation heats up and gold is found that dates back to the gold rush, more complications come into play that threaten them both. Could clues leading to a Gold Rush era mystery that was first discovered during the building of the bridge still ignite an obsession worth killing for?
