  1. My husband was in Vietnam, we were only married 3 months when he had to join or he was going to have to go in as his number was called. He was away from me for 1 1/2 years. It was very lonely for both of us. We could only community via snail mail which took forever to come.

  4. I'm too young for that era, so all I know is what I've learned in textbooks & whatnot.

  5. I was young but I remember watching events unfold on television. I know that the veterans were not treated very well- when they returned- due to the anti-war movements.

  6. My great grandfather was paraglided over enemy lines on D-Day. He never spoke of his wartime experiences to me while he lived, though. He was a quiet man who kept to himself and played solitaire. I found out about his bravery only after he passed away.

  8. I remember the nightly black and white TV reports and daily media accounts bombarding the public from Vietnam. The recollection is foggy. I recall not only Vietnam, but the turbulent antiwar aftermath

  9. I served in the U.S. Army as a Vietnamese interpreter and here it is 50 years later and I still have no idea why I was there!

  10. I remember the draft and the men in our community who died. I had a cousin who served two tours of duty.
