Bunny's First Spring by Sally Lloyd-Jones, illustrations by David McPhail

ISBN: 9780310733867
Hardcover $15.99
The author uses short sentences and prose in an easily readable style to tell the story of little bunny. Born in springtime he frolics through the seasons of the year enjoying all of life around him. Fear and concern envelope little bunny as the Fall begins and changes are dismally apparent to him. He doesn't care for the cold, hardness of winter as it settles in.

Finally, Spring with all its beauty and glory bursts into bloom around little bunny and he is happy once again.

Beautifully illustrated using the soft tones of watercolors, the artist David McPhail, brings the seasons to life for little bunny and all the little readers who hold this lovely book in their hands.

    1. Tina, there is none that I noticed. You could stretch it a bit since there is a Martin Luther "quote/paraphrase" at the back of the book referencing new life. I usually avoid Spring, Bunny books, Easter books (especially with chicks and bunnies), with Christian themes because I respect our Lord's resurrection too much and appreciate His sacrifice too much to belittle it with Easter bunnies, Easter chicks, etc. I accepted this book because everything I saw about it seemed to be only a bunny story- which I found to be true. it is about new life - Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter (trees and plants dying), and Spring when new growth (new life) springs forth. As Christians we must be careful not to fall into a pagan mindset where this new life of the plant world is turned into a religious experience. It is a wonderful phenomena of the seasons that God created. As Christians we can enjoy little animal stories and stories about the seasons. We can speak of the new life as plants spring forth in new growth. But our new life in Christ is totally different as is His resurrection.
